Connecting ballet even more closely with its audience and the city: That is the idea behind "Idea in Action", responsible for public relations, education and partnerships in Nuremberg and abroad. Led by Richard Siegal, Bettina Wagner-Bergelt and Wayne Götz, the programme connects the audience with ballet and vice versa by making dance accessible beyond stage productions. "Idea in Action" hopes to break down barriers between the theatre and the audience, between the theatre and the city and between seeing and doing.
SEE ME - DANCE WITH ME
Premiere: 29/07/2026, 11.00 AM
The ballet is planning a cooperation with the "bbs nürnberg - Bildungszentrum für blinde und sehbehinderte Kinder, Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene" in July 2026. For an entire month, the ballet invites students to a dance project. The approximately 140 children from a wide range of ages will be led by an artistic team every day to rehearse, train, improvise, dance, speak, sing and listen to music for three to six hours instead of sitting at a desk all day. They will conquer spaces with their unique abilities, push boundaries and let the artistic team get involved. They will interact with the artists to show them how blind and visually impaired people perceive the world and make it accessible to them so that they can assert their right to equity.
OPEN CLASSES
The Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet of Difference invites you to attend a practice
Morning ballet practice is the daily breakfast for all dancers, in its own way. It serves to warm up the muscles for the following rehearsal day while also being invaluable to maintaining fitness, honing technical prowess and preventing injuries. The Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet of Difference regularly opens its doors to visitors.
Registration: Interested visitors can experience the daily routine of a dancer (after registering at ballet(at)staatstheater-nuernberg.de).
PUBLIC REHEARSALS
A view behind the scenes with the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet of Difference
At the public rehearsals, we show you how an idea is translated into movement and how a ballet production is made. We invite you on select dates to take a look at our company’s rehearsals on the opera house stage.
MATINEES/SOIREES
Would you like to learn more about the concept of the latest dance piece and get your first insight into the rehearsal process?
During matinees and soirees of certain ballet productions, you have the opportunity shortly before the premiere to learn about the background of the piece and performance. Choreographers and members of the artistic team discuss the production. Choreographic sample rehearsals are also included.
INTRODUCTIONS
Half an hour before the ballet performances, we offer condensed information on the piece and its background. In the Gluck-Saal, we provide you with a brief introduction that helps perfectly set the mood for the performance.
AUDIENCE DISCUSSIONS
Would you like to learn more about what you saw during an after-show or take a closer look at the stage concepts? Then you are invited to the follow-up discussion in the Gluck-Saal so that you can discuss the new projects or productions with ballet director Richard Siegal and company members after select performances. We look forward to engaging with you directly.
