Idea in Action

Bettina Wagner-Bergelt is curator and co-director of "Idea in Action" (together with Richard Siegal and Wayne Götz) at the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet of Difference, a platform dedicated to aesthetic education and interdisciplinary collaboration. She publishes regularly in journals such as TANZ, Dance Europe, Münchner Feuilleton, and various French dance publications. From 2018 to 2022, she served as Artistic Director and General Manager of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and was Artistic Director of the bauhaus100 festival. Previously, she was Deputy Director of the Bavarian State Ballet, founded the DANCE Festival Munich and co-founded the THINK BIG! Festival. She is actively involved in national and international advisory boards (including Tanzkongress, German Dance Award jury, Biennale Tanzausbildung, and Mazlool School) and is a member of the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland. Wagner-Bergelt has received numerous honors, including the Munich Dance Award, the Irène Lejeune Dance Prize, the PwC Foundation Award, and the French Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des lettres). She lives in Munich with her family.
