Dear audience,
I introduced my company and myself in Nuremberg 17 years ago with "Benditos, Malditos" (Blessed Damned). With "Malditos, Benditos" (Damned Blessed), I am now closing the circle and saying goodbye to my artistic home, my theatre and our loyal audience. In this farewell season, I will reflect with my ensemble on the evolution we have undergone over this long period of time. Here in Nuremberg, I have formed and developed as a person, choreographer and artistic director and we are now taking a grateful look at this transformation.
I would also like to present my latest dance pieces to our Nuremberg audience - one of them large-scale and iconic: my "Firebird", created for Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo in 2023 - the second intimate and intense: "Tilt", conceived for the Staatsballett Hannover.
The line-up of our guests this season once again brings together protagonists from different generations, all of whom are masters of their art. First and foremost, the artistic genius Marco Goecke, with whom we are collaborating for the third time and who is now dedicating his first world premiere to us with Stravinsky's rarely performed "Scènes de ballet".
And we are introducing new names and guests who we are welcoming to our company for the first time, such as Rafael Bonachela, whose work I have long wanted to see in our repertoire. We are also introducing the award-winning choreographer Stephanie Lake, a shooting star of the international dance scene, who is creating a new work especially for our company.
I cordially invite you to join us on an emotional journey through our 17 years of creative work and celebrate with us in an irretrievable dance festival!
Sincerely,
Yours Goyo Montero
Director of Ballet and Principal Choreographer
