Mall­witz di­ri­giert Mahler

Gustav Mahler's music focused on humanity in all its facets of life and emotion. Whether man longs for deliverance or to simply sit with others in a tavern are, for Mahler, merely different aggregate states of a single, infinitely precious existence. His 9th Symphony is not an optimistic work, but rather one of the assessment of a life. It is ambivalent, doubtful, even fearful.

The Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg is pleased to welcome Joana Mallwitz back to Nuremberg as honorary conductor for the orchestra. She will be continuing her series of Gustav Mahler's symphonies with these two concerts.
