Jack lives out in the country, but in the city he goes by Ernst. Algernon invents a sick friend named Bunbury whom he often has to visit out in the country. The two men are connected by more than just friendship and a shared secret. They also share their biggest fear: boredom! But boredom looms when they give in to society's expectations. Yet their double lives risk being exposed when Algernon appears on Jack's estate and weddings are planned...

With virtuosic wordplay, the complex connections between desire and morality, between flat appearance and glittering truth unfold. Director Julia Preschl translates Oscar Wilde's 1895 queer comedy into a highly amusing, modern theatre experience.
