In 1812, Beethoven wrote a love letter to an unknown woman who has preoccupied generations of researchers while inspiring musicians. Detlev Galnert’s violin concerto, written in 2019 for the violinist Midori, interprets the words in Beethoven’s famous letter as notes and the declaration of love as music. After the overture by Beethoven’s pupil Ferdinand Ries, the master himself is the focus of the 7th Philharmonic Concert: with the serene and pensive piano piece “Andante favori” that Roland Böer wrote for the orchestra, and with his ever surprising and less triumphant 8th Symphony.
PROGRAMME:
Ferdinand Ries: Ouverture dramatique from "L’Apparition" WoO 61
Detlev Glanert: Violin concerto no. 2 “To an undying love”
Ludwig van Beethoven: Andante favori (arranged for orchestra by Roland Böer)
