The Goggle Club selects one 3. Etage performance a month and teams up with a dramaturg for a relaxed discussion session with audience members.
It’s about chatting freely, with spectators of all ages and levels of knowledge, about audience impressions, approaches, criticisms and perceptions.
There is no linear thread to the sessions; each discussion can be attended in isolation.
We generally associate Europe with democracy, universalism and human rights, and the EU is seen as a free and diverse federation of peoples. Europe views itself as the antithesis of authoritarianism. And yet the EU’s outer borders are monitored by Frontex, an agency that has been chiefly associated with intransparency, human rights violations and dubious partnerships in recent years.
How did this contradiction come to be? Is it intrinsic to the system, perhaps even desired? Are our borders being militarised in the periphery? Frontières Extérieures asks how dehumanisation can come to occur in border regions, and devises a psychological profile of the political decision-makers responsible for this between coffee cup and pushback, between secret prison camps and stamp pads.
