Udo Ha­ber­land

Udo Haberland worked until the 80s as a photographer in Berlin. In 1988 he began working for film and television productions as well as for the Staatstheater in Stuttgart. As a freelance lighting designer and lighting master, he created commissioned works for ballet, dance, opera and acting in Europe, the USA and Australia. He also worked for many festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival, the Wiener Festwochen and the Ludwigsburg Festival for many years.


In the event area, he created lighting design for, among others, Hugo BOSS, Formula 1 and Strenesse. In the field of film and TV advertising he worked for Arte, MTV & VIVA, ARD, ZDF & NDR, Deutsche Telekom, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota, Kodak and many more. At the Stuttgart Ballet Udo Haberland developed the lighting design for all creations by Marco Goecke, also for the two evening fillers "Nussknacker" (2006) and "Orlando" (2010).


He also designed the lighting design for the works created by Marco Goecke at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, NDT I and NDT II, Staatsballett Berlin and the Norwegian National Ballet in Oslo. He also collaborated with choreographer Cayetano Soto, designing the light design of his "Carmen" staging for the Ballet Dortmund and the Czech National Ballet in Brno. Further work in dance performed with the choreographer Örjan Andersson for "Eroica" in 2010 and Jérôme Delbey for "I shall in Florence" in Gothenburg, with Giovanni Di Palma for his "Romeo and Juliet" at the Sao Paulo Companhia de Danca in 2013 and with Bridget Breiner for the Latvian National Ballet in Riga 2014.
