2023/24 marks Roland Böer’s first season as General Music Director of the Staatstheater Nürnberg and Principal Conductor of the Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg.

He has given guest performances at opera houses of renown around the world including the Teatro alla Scala, the Royal Opera House and English National Opera in London, the Deutsche Oper and Komische Oper Berlin, the Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg, the Wiener Volksoper, the Royal Operas in Stockholm and Copenhagen, the Polish State Opera Warsaw, the Czech National Theatre Prague and the New National Theatre Tokyo. He has conducted the London Symphony and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestras, the orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the hr-Sinfonieorchester, the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie.

From 2002 to 2008 Böer held the post of Kapellmeister at the Oper Frankfurt. For over 12 years, beginning in 2009, he officiated at the “Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano“ Festival, first as Musical, later as Artistic Director. Until 2019 he was also engaged as Principle Guest Conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

He has recorded with the Philharmonia Orchestra for EMI and OPERA RARA, with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra for the BBC and with the Bamberger Symphoniker for Bayerischer Rundfunk. His debut at La Scala in William Kentridge’s production of “The Magic Flute” was released on DVD by the OPUS ARTE label.

Roland Böer was appointed Fellow of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and is an honorary citizen of the city of Montepulciano.
