Ra­chel­le Scott

Rachelle Anaïs Scott is a French-American choreographer and performing artist from New York City, currently based in Basel, Switzerland. Her choreographic work has been presented by dance companies committed to supporting emerging choreographers. She has received recognition from the Dare 2 Dance Film Festival and the Mannheim Arts and Film Festival, among others.

In 2022, she created a visual art and dance collaboration with Kunstmuseum Basel for its "Picasso–El Greco" exhibition, which premiered in Basel, Switzerland. In June 2023, Rachelle was selected for Orsolina28’s Call for Creation residency. Her duet "Us", created with the support of a research grant from the Department of Culture of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, was also presented at the 37th International Competition for Choreographers Hannover in June 2023.

As part of the Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival Steps’ Next Steps program, Rachelle was commissioned to create new works for the St. Gallen Dance Company in 2025 and Theater Bern in 2026. She also created a new work for NDT 2 as part of its "Up & Coming Choreographers" program in June 2026. Most recently, Rachelle performed with the Hofesh Shechter Company at The Old Vic in London in "Oedipus", starring Rami Malek and Indira Varma. She then joined Marco Goecke for his debut season as Artistic Director of Theater Basel in the 2025/26 season.

Rachelle received her dance training at The Ailey School and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. At the end of her high school studies, she received the YoungArts/New York Regional Award in Dance and the Eiger Scholarship Award. She went on to attend The Juilliard School, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance.

After graduating from Juilliard, Rachelle became a member of Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet in New York City, a soloist with Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet in Germany, and a member of Theater Basel in Switzerland. Throughout her career, she has performed works by Hofesh Shechter, Marco Goecke, Sharon Eyal, Alexander Ekman, Richard Wherlock, Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Andonis Foniadakis, Goyo Montero, Johan Inger, and Jiří Kylián, among others.

In recognition of her achievements in dance and the performing arts, Rachelle is a recipient of the Princess Grace Award in the United States and the Bavarian Arts Prize in Germany.
