Brazilian dancer, graduate of the Contemporary Dance Department of the Bolshoi School in Brazil, Lucas Axel began his career with the school’s Young Company, where he worked both as a dancer and choreographer. Since then, he has built a distinguished international career performing with leading companies such as Staatstheater Nürnberg, Staatstheater Augsburg, Balé da Cidade de São Paulo, and São Paulo Dance Company.
He has performed works by Ohad Naharin, Jiří Kylián, Edward Clug, Johan Inger, Mauro Bigonzetti, Goyo Montero, Rodrigo Pederneiras, William Forsythe, and the duo Paul Lightfoot and Sol León (Stop Motion). Lucas also danced Lux Tenebris by Rafael Bonachela from Sydney Dance Company alongside Sthefanie Lake, Interval by Goyo Montero with the renowned Diana Vishneva, Beginning After by Cayetano Soto with Augsburg Ballet, Ydam by Ihsan Rustem, and The Dream of Don Quixote by Marcia Haydée with São Paulo Dance Company.
Combining a strong classical foundation with contemporary expressiveness, Lucas embodies versatility, precision, and emotional depth. As a choreographer, he has presented original works at the Bolshoi School (Brazil) and Staatstheater Nürnberg. His creation Três Atos por Acaso was performed at the Bolshoi Theater Moscow, during the Ekaterina Maximova Festival, by invitation of Vladimir Vasiliev — marking a significant moment in his artistic journey.
Since 2019, Lucas has been a member of the Staatstheater Nürnberg, where he worked under the direction of Goyo Montero, and continues his artistic path under the leadership of Richard Siegal.
