Leonardo Milanés Broche was born in Havana in 1983 and graduated with distinction from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), where he studied concert piano, followed by orchestral conducting at the same institution. He made his solo debut performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, and went on to appear as a soloist and conductor with leading Cuban orchestras. With over a decade of experience as répétiteur of the National Ballet of Cuba, he has also performed as a soloist in numerous ballet productions, including “Nocturne”, “Portrait of a Waltz”, and “Verbum”. He has collaborated with the New York City Ballet and principal dancers from The Royal Ballet London at the International Ballet Festival of Havana. A defining moment in his career was his participation in Alicia Alonso’s final stage appearance as Prima Ballerina Assoluta.
