Edward Nunes was born in Brazil and graduated in both, contemporary dance and choreography at the Escola do Teatro Bolshoi no Brasil. His repertoire of solo roles includes a.d. the Mouse King in "Nutcracker" (Vladimir Vasiliev), Banquo in "Macbeth" (Johann Kresnik), Incubus in "Gesualdo" (Peter Breuer) and many other roles in the contemporary repertoire of choreographers such as Cassi Abranches, Liliane Grammot, Jomar Mesquita and Phillipe Trehet. He won numerous prizes at national and international festivals, e.g. best dancer at Tanzolymp Berlin. In 2015/2016 he worked as a dancer and choreographer at the Bolshoi Brazil Company, where he gave several workshops in classical and contemporary dance. Several of his own creations have been included in the repertoire of the Escola do Teatro Bolshoi no Brasil. In 2016/2017 he danced as a soloist at the Salzburger Landestheater and there had the opportunity to introduce himself as a choreographer. Since 2017 he has been with the Landestheater Linz, where he has been a member of the Landestheater Linz, performing in leading parts in "Music for While", "Death and the Maiden", "The Little Mermaid" and "Macbeth". From the season 2019/2020 on he will be a member of the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet. Edward Nunes has been honoured with the Bavarian Art Award 2023 (Bayerischen Kunstförderpreis), making him the ninth artist from the Nuremberg Ballet under the direction of Goyo Montero to receive the award in the dance category.
