By public transport
Admission ticket = transport ticket
Your ticket to any event at the Staatstheater Nürnberg also covers your fare for return trip to and from the venue on the day of the performance. The ticket is valid on all services operated by the VGN (covering the entire transport network, 2nd class rail travel, surcharge-free trains) beginning 4 hours before start of performance and ending at close-down of transportation services. The VGN combo ticket rules apply. The admission ticket or the Print@Home ticket covers free use of public transport between the hours stated above. Your booking confirmation is not accepted as a ticket for travelling.
To plan your journey to and from the venue on the VGN transport network, you may wish to use the following online portals:
Opernhaus and Schauspielhaus
Take Underground lines U2/U21 and U3 to “Opernhaus”, from where there is direct access to the Opera. The Schauspielhaus with the Kammerspiele and the 3. Etage is located between Richard-Wagner-Platz and Karl-Pschigode-Platz only a few metres from the station.
Meistersingerhalle
Take Tram 8 from the main train station or Bus 36 from Plärrer in the direction of Doku-Zentrum. Get off at “Meistersingerhalle”.
By car
Parking
The “Parkhaus Sterntor” car park is within walking distance of the Opera House and Theatre. Visitors to the State Theatre can park here for €4.00. Your number plate will be automatically registered upon entry. Just before the exit, you must pay the applicable parking fees at the pay-on-exit machine. After you have entered your number plate, the standard price for the corresponding parking duration will initially appear. To benefit from the theatre rate, you must scan your theatre ticket at the machine after entering your number plate. This also works with a digital mobile ticket. Once the ticket has been scanned, the amount due is reduced to the theatre flat rate of €4.00. After payment – which can be made up to approximately eight hours after the start of the performance – you can drive out of the car park within the next few minutes.
PLEASE NOTE:
Due to a car fire, the “Am Theater” underground car park on Richard-Wagner-Platz is closed until further notice.
People with walking difficulties who are accompanied to a performance or arrive by taxi are welcome to be dropped off directly in front of the main entrance to the opera house. Private vehicles must then be parked in a designated car park.
The Meistersingerhalle has sufficient parking. Your car’s number plate is scanned as you enter, and this is used to automatically determine the duration of your parking period. Visitors enter their plate number on the touchscreen-operated machines for payment. You can pay with coins, EC cards, Visa and Maestro at all machines. Unfortunately, payment with banknotes or credit cards (American Express, Diners Club etc.) is not possible. Further information on parking at the Meistersingerhalle can be found on the City of Nuremberg website.
Information on parking for people with reduced mobility is available here.
